Alter registry to register software?

Postby magnox » Fri Jan 06, 2012 6:59 pm

Hey all,

I bought a program a long while ago, then registered it and bought also a product key to upgrade the version of the program to a better version. It was FTM 2005, (Family Tree Maker) bought in 2006 and my system ran XP pro back then.

I've just tried the program on my PC running Vista now and it installed ok, but I can't register it. I assume that the link to the site is long out of date. But I have to register it before I can use the product key to unlock the best features.

Can I alter the registry to make it seem like the program's registered? I assume that's all that happens anyway..and I did originally buy the product and the upgrade.

Cheers,

Pete
